Addie Ruth Powers, 68, of Muncie, IN died Friday October 1, 2010 at her residence in Muncie. She was born on July 22, 1942 in Sunflower, Mississippi the daughter of Jessie and Jimmie Lee (Burks) Anderson. On July 29, 1981 she married William A. Powers.
She was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed serving others and was a wonderful mother figure to a host of nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving relatives include her loving husband, William A. Powers of Muncie, IN; one son, Joseph N. Anderson (Paula) of Muncie, IN; five grandchildren, Nathaniel; Isaiah; Ivy; Meilani; Katherine Anderson of Muncie, IN; three brothers, Thomas Hoskins of Greenville MS; Curtis Hoskins of Muncie, IN; Melvin Hoskins of Michigan; four sisters, Ozela Pittman of MS; Jessie May Miller of Muncie, IN; Minnie Sanders of Indianapolis, IN; Maereatha Hawkins (Junior) of Sunflower, MS; brothers and sisters-in-law; Dorothy Kelly (Harvey) of Niagara Falls, NY; Arlene Bateman (Maurice) of MS; Roslind Moore of TN; Ernest Powers (Sylvia) of Muncie, IN; Georgia Mae Wheatley and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary A. Grimm.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Thursday October 7, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Rev. Wade Sloss and Rev. Jimmie Clark will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contribution can be made to the Children''s Wish Foundation in memory of Addie Powers.
