Obituary

Adelene Cassel, 78, of Parker City, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at St. Vincent''s Hospital, Indianapolis after she fought a lengthy battle with an illness of unknown origin. She was born on December 23, 1931 in Stearns, KY to the late Vander and Zora Ellis. Adelene is a 1950 graduate of Losantville High School. On April 22, 1951 she married her love, Donald R. Cassel in Parker City.
Adelene lived all of her life in the Parker City area and worked at B.J. Goodyear and was also a telephone operator at Indiana Bell. Adelene was a homemaker, housewife, and farm assistant at the family farm. She was a member of the Parker City United Methodist Church, Parker 53 Home Ec Club where she held several offices, the Eastern Star of Parker City, and an honorary member of PSI IOTA XI Sorority ETA IOTA Chapter. Adelene was a woman not afraid of hard work whose life was filled with caring, kindness, love, and a quiet faith.
Adelene is survived by her deeply loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Donald Cassel; their loving children: Kathie Allee (husband, Ron) of Richmond, IN and Greg Cassel (wife, DeeDee) of Parker City; 3 grandchildren: Abby Wagner (husband, Andrew) of Farmland; Cale Cassel (wife, Laci) of Indianapolis; and Regan Allee of Indianapolis; 2 step-grandchildren: Holly White and her daughter Ariana of Parker City and Kim Strang (husband, David) and their children of Indianapolis; great-grandson Max and great-granddaughter Cora and the anticipated birth of another great-granddaughter in January 2011 as Cale and Laci start their family; 2 brothers: Hoyatt Ellis (wife, Irene) of Richmond and Lowell Ellis of Parker City; 2 sisters: Glenna Klingel (husband, Charlie) of Muncie and Janice Stephenson (husband, Robert) of Muncie; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Conner officiating. There will also be an additional hour visitation prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Parker City United Methodist Church, 305 S. Main St., Parker City, IN 47368.
