Adeline Belle Reed, 93, was freed from the pain of her earthly existence and went to be with her Lord, her husband, and her son in Glory Tuesday evening, February 2, 2010 at Muncie Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born December 5, 1916 in Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia, the daughter of Chester Blaine Tucker and Christine Francis (Richards) Tucker.
Belle's family moved to Illinois and upon graduation in 1934 from Oblong High School, she moved to Muncie where she worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company as an operator. While at Bell she joined a group of ladies that formed the TRL Club, which met monthly up into the 1990's. After moving to Muncie, she met Norman W. Reed. They married June 27, 1937, and had sixty wonderful years together. Belle was a talented seamstress, and she collected and restored dolls, which was a subject she spoke on to several ladies' groups. Her faith, love and willingness to serve will long be remembered. Belle and her husband were members of Riverside United Methodist Church and the Truthseekers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one son, Richard P. Reed, (wife, Marion), Cheyenne, Wyoming; one daughter, Susan Reed Blair, Muncie; six grandchildren, David R. Shoemaker, Erin E. Shoemaker, and Kristin K. Shoemaker Wheeler, all of Muncie, Joshua Reed, Jessica Reed Lammers and Stephanie Reed Webster; nine great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lynden, Wesley, Addie, Beau, Bree, Tyler, Ryan, and Bryan; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor John Young officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
Family and friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2010 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, and one hour prior to services Saturday.
