Obituary

Agnes L. Black, age 88, of Muncie, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017. Aggie was born in Grant County, Indiana on November 22, 1928 to Vaughn and Thelma (Moore) Leming. Aggie married her husband, Marion E. Black on June 24, 1950 and was able to recently celebrate 67 years of marriage. Aggie attended Ball State Teachers College and later obtained her Masters in Education from BSU. She taught a variety of subjects at Dunkirk, Redkey, Muncie, Desoto and finished her career at Delta High School, retiring in 1994. Aggie touched the lives of so many students during her lifetime. She was an educator well ahead of her time, had an entrepreneurial spirit, starting businesses in computer services and personal shopping in the late 1980's.

Surviving Aggie is her husband and their three children: Lynn (Julie) Black, Michelle J. Hummer and Derek (Laurie) Black as well as three grandchildren: Andrew (Sarah) Black, Lauren (Daniel) Mowrey, James Cassidakis and two great-granddaughters. Aggie is survived by her sisters Charlotte Mackin and Marilyn Peters. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Leming.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Morrison Woods for the loving care they provided to Aggie during her time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Aggie's memory to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
