Albert A. Hoyt, 89 of Muncie, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2017 at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital with his wife and family at his bedside. He was born November 5, 1927 in Muncie, the son of the late Marion and Hilda (Rahe) Hoyt.
Albert attended St.Lawrence Catholic School and was 1945 graduate of Stoney Creek High School. Albert proudly and honorably served his country in WWII, in the United States Army Air Force as a weather observer stationed in Japan.
On July 11, 1970 he was married to Mary Alice (Harshman) Howell Hoyt, his wife of 46 years.
Albert was an avid fisherman and loved to fly fish making many of his own flies. He and Mary owned a cottage on Chapman Lake, Warsaw IN for over 40 years and enjoyed spending wonderful times with family and friends there. He was retired from General Motors Hydro-Matic as a tool grinder in January, 1990.
Albert is survived by his wife Mary; five brothers Robert Hoyt, Richard " Tom" Hoyt, Paul (Susie) Hoyt of Muncie ; Marion "Dody" (Jayne) Hoyt of Parker City, Philip (Barbara) Hoyt of Livingston, TX, and two sisters, Barbara Gooden Muncie ,Mary (Jack) Griffith, Quemado NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond Hoyt and step-son Gary Duane Howell, as well as several aunts and uncles and cousins.
Services to celebrate Albert''s life will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Sylvia Stong officiating. Burial with military honors being conducted by the United States Army Airforce and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm Monday February 20,2017 and an hour before the service on Tuesday.
