Albert N. "Dick" Jones, 82, died Sunday morning, December 26, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born September 2, 1928 in Newton County, the son of John William and Lena (Riley) Jones. He graduated from Paoli High School in 1946.
Mr. Jones received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1951.
On December 22, 1951 he married Dorothea Amelia McDonnel in Paoli.
Mr. Jones was a meat cutter by trade; he worked at Ralph's Market in Yorktown, Tom's Meats and Rahe's Meats of Muncie. He retired from the Meat and Poultry Division of the Indiana State Board of Health, where he was a meat inspector.
He had been actively involved with the PTA and Cub Scouts at Eugene Field Elementary School. He was also a member of Corinth United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothea; three sons, Leonard Jones, Muncie, Kevin Jones, Muncie, and Danny Jones (wife, Melissa Gorsuch), Lafayette; a daughter, Joy Jones (husband, Bill), Muncie; three grandchildren, Tammi Pence, Joshua and Ian Jones; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Victoria Pence, Morgan, Dillon, and Aiden Jones; a sister, Irene Deardurff, Morocco; a sister-in-law, Mary Young, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Carla Jo Pence and Scott KeKoa Jones; two brothers, William R. and Ralph L. Jones; and two sisters, Eva Bramble and Marjorie Crowe.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Rev. David Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
