Albert L. "Al" Webb, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Monday morning January 25, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born November 26, 1924 in Anderson, IN the son of James Riley and Ivy Ann (Lycan) Webb, moved to Muncie as a child and graduated from Muncie Central High School.
Mr. Webb was employed with the Muncie Newspapers as an advertising representative and salesman for nineteen years prior to his retirement in 1987. He also was a self-employed electrician for many years. He was a member of Muncie Lodge #433 F. & A.M. where he was a past master in 1982, Scottish Rite-Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Temple-Indianapolis, Murpah Shrine Club where he was chairman of the board in 1981, and past president of F.O.P. He was a former member of Moose Lodge #33, Eagle Lodge F.O.E. #231, and the VFW. His enjoyments were golfing, where he had a hole-in-one at Maplewood Golf Course in 1995, woodworking, and his family.
Surviving are his wife of fourteen years, Betty R.; three children, Paula Wright, Muncie, Debbie Mace (Kirk), Muncie, and Albert L. Webb, Jr. (Dorothy), Huntington; two stepsons, Tim Cobb (Cathy), Muncie and David May (Tammy), Muncie; six grandchildren, Ron Wright, Jr. (Lissa), Kathy Kennedy (Ric Oliver), Jason Elwood (Joy), Matt Elwood, Amy Grose (Christian), and Martin Webb; two step-grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler May; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Etheleen Webb in 1983; two sisters, Mary Jane Henderson and Ellen Marie Henderson; and his foster parents, Elmer and Margaret Slay.
Services will be held in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010 with Pastor Dale Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with Masonic services at 6:30 p.m. or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
