Alfred E. "Gene" Ammon, Jr., age 87, of Muncie, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at Integra Specialty Hospital in Muncie with his family at his side. He was born November 6, 1923 in Muncie, IN to Alfred E. and Faye Evelyn (Minch) Ammon. He was a WW II Army veteran and he worked at Borg-Warner for 30 years, retiring in 1975. Gene loved to work on cars and electronics and was an avid outdoorsman.
He married the former Beverly Lindsey on October 19, 1946 and she survives along with his daughters; Sherrie Flannery, (husband Curt), of Farmland and Cathy Cantrell, (husband Dan), of Pendleton, IN; sister, Joan Bilbrey, (husband Glen), of Muncie; grandchildren, Tracy Rogers, of Indianapolis, Michael Cantrell, (wife Christine), of Anderson, and Craig Cantrell of Pendleton; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Robert, Howard "Tom", Donald, and Edwin Ammon; sister, Marcella Burton.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, 47303 with Pastor Dan Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00PM until service time at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor''s choice.
