Alice "Jan". Mowery, age 90, of Yorktown, Indiana, claimed her jackpot on "777" July 7, 2025, as she entered through the gates of Heaven. She was born in Henry County, Indiana, on March 3, 1935, to the late Franklin and Elsie Woods.

Alice worked for Guide Lamp in Anderson, Indiana, for 27 years before retiring in 1990. She loved going to the casino and playing the slot machines. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed word puzzles, gardening, cooking, and baking. A talented crocheter, Alice was especially known for making beautiful lap quilts. She had a special love for her beloved cat, Elli.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney Davis and Brent (Robin) Erickson; daughters, Debbie Capua (Mike deceased), Becky (Russ) Hayes; Step-daughters Kimberly (Chip) Oshier; Lisa (Tom) Novak as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Elsie Woods; her husband, Vern Mowery; Step-daughter Tammy Newton; her sisters, Vivian Corn, Katherine Myers, Luella Wilson, and Lucille Asher; and her brothers, Earl Woods and Charles Wood.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her neighbor, Penny, as well as to the Methodist Hospital Neuro ICU nurses and the IU Hospice Team for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Josh Johnson, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, Indiana.
