Obituary

Allen Gene Lasater was born on October 16, 1929, to Allen Gomer and Pauline Lasater.

He grew up in Muncie with a brother and a sister, Roy and Velva (both deceased), often walking to his parents' small grocery store after school to help them out and gain his first work experience. Throughout his adolescence and teen years, Gene would visit his grandparents, who were farmers near Gaston. He quickly developed a love for the land and farming.

Gene started farming on his own in 1950 with hopes and dreams of building a good life and family through hard work, integrity, and finding the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Scott, whom he married in 1951 and still survives. They worked side by side to make those dreams come true.

They were married for 74 years and had five children: Cheri (Dale), Vicki (Dan), Cindi (Mark), Polli (Jeff), and Scott (Teresa). They had 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Gene was a member of the Gaston Main Street Church, where memorial contributions may be sent. He also served as a director of the Production Credit Association for 10 years. After he retired, Gene and Carolyn enjoyed spending time together with close friends in Florida. A private service for the immediate family was held to honor Gene.
