IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alma Berdena
Boyle
September 12, 1934 – September 22, 2021
Alma Berdena Boyle of Hartford City, Indiana passed away at the age 87 at her daughter's home with family the evening of Wednesday, September 22, 2021. She was born in Somerset, Kentucky on September 12, 1934 to the late J.T. and Molly (Wesley) Dick.
Alma was smart, strong, and proud of her children who meant the absolute world to her. Her life's mission was her kids. Her daughter said that she was the strongest and most proud woman she had ever known. One of Alma's greatest joys outside of spending time with her family was the time she spent drinking coffee and chatting with her special, close-knit friends. These ladies had a special place in her heart. She also enjoyed spending time talking to her renters and trying to solve life's problems. She loved talking to people and sharing stories. She was an Eastern Star member at Matthews Masonic Lodge, the Pacific Little League President of Woman's Auxiliary, and a member of Prairie Grove Church in Gaston, Indiana.
Alma met Myron Edwin Boyle in school, they married, and she happily worked as a farmer's wife right alongside her loving husband of 70 years. They loved to camp and travel together and with friends, venturing to many parts of the United States, including Alaska, which she loved. Alma was no stranger to hard work herself. She worked for Ball Hospital in the early 1950s before moving to California in 1959, where she worked for St. Michael's Hospital until her return to Upland, Indiana. She and Myron moved to Hartford City, Indiana, where they started Boyle Enterprise. She also worked for RCA and then for Blackford County Hospital until her retirement.
Alma is survived by her son, Rich Boyle (Clara) of Hartford City, Indiana; daughter, Vickey Holtzleiter (Tim) of Hartford City, Indiana; six grandchildren, Dr. Kenneth Boyle (Christa), Kerri Samuelson (Matt), Kenya Padilla, Kristy B. Martin, Kris Holtzleiter (Jessieca), and Alyssa Richey (Michael); twelve great grandchildren, Trinity, Leiani, Saoirse, Hunter, Beckett, Blake, Eli, Mia, Jackson, Madi, Charlotte, and Eleanor.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Molly (Wesley) Dick; loving husband, Myron Boyle; son, Rickey Boyle; brother, J.T. Dick, Jr.; and sister, Daisy Elliott.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Heart to Heart Hospice for all of their care.
