Amelia Sue Shipman, 55, of Muncie, died early Thursday morning, August 8, 2013 at her residence. She was born May 25th, 1958, in Martinsville, IN and is the daughter of Karla B. (Alexander) Green, and the late Donald R. Green.
Amelia was a graduate of Martinsville High School Class of 1976. She attended the Indiana School for the deaf for 8 years. She was an outstanding art student. Amelia was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Amelia is survived by her loving husband of 34 years Paul Scott Shipman, whom she married November 25th , 1978; a son Philip S. Shipman of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter Emily R. Marshall (James) of Muncie; her mother Karla B. Green of Muncie; a grandson Thane Ryan Power of Colorado Springs, CO; a granddaughter Talia Adilynn Power of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister Teresa Cooksey of Chandler, AZ; father-in-law Scott Shipman of West Lafayette, IN.; two sister-in-laws, Annette Mauntel of Jasper, IN and Clarice Benner (Patrick) of Earl Park, IN; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joel David Smith; mother-in-law Jean Shipman; grandparents Shelby Green & Mayme Green, and Rebecca Alexander.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1200 West Riverside, Muncie, IN 47303, with Rev. Sean Pogue Celebrant. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 at the church, and one hour prior to the mass on Wednesday. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Madison County Deaf Club or the Boy Scouts of America Troop #25, with envelopes provided by the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and trust of Garden View Funeral Home.
