Obituary

Ancil Wayne Sims, 85, of Muncie, IN, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1924 in Greencastle, IN the son of Roscoe Nelson and Nora Belle (Blunk) Sims.
Ancil served near 4 years in the Army during WWII as a Private First Class. He then entered the trucking industry and was a truck driver for 35 years for Craig Trucking in Albany, IN, whom later sold to B & L Trucking out of Newark, OH. He later retired in 1986. Ancil was also recognized for numerous safe driving certificates during his time. Ancil was a former member of Cowan United Methodist Church. Ancil also enjoyed working with his hands. His family also remembers his enjoyment with fishing in Ohio.
Surviving relatives include a son, Ronald W. Sims of Springport, IN; daughters, Marcia Hughes (husband: Steve) of Muncie, IN, and Sandra White of Hebron, KY; sister, Wanda Guinn (husband: Everett) of Muncie, IN; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 3 nephews; and former wife and caretaker, Ila Sims of Muncie, IN.
Ancil was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wilma Wyne.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Gordon Jackson will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will also be Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
