Annajene Doherty, 97, of Muncie, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Westminster Village.

She was born in Muncie on March 19, 1928, to the late Edward and Hazel Dowling. On August 8, 1949, she married the love of her life, the late Billy E. Doherty. Annajene dedicated her career to education and retired from Delaware Community Schools after many years of teaching.

She enjoyed fishing, spending summers at Morrison Lake in Michigan, and playing the card game Hand and Foot. Annajene was also known for her excellent cooking and cherished spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, David (Cinda) Doherty; grandson, Jason (Lindsay) Doherty and granddaughter Carrie (Tony) Huffman; and great-grandchildren, Ellia, Riley, Jacob, Ethan, and Liam, all of whom brought her great joy. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and former colleagues.

In addition to her parents and husband, Annajene was preceded in death by son Danny Doherty, her sisters, Helen LaVelle and Freda Johnson.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, IN 47303. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, IN.
