Archie M. Prince Jr., age 77, of Muncie passed away on Sunday January 12, 2014 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie after an extended illness.
He was born August 23, 1936 in Friendsville, TN and was the son of Archie Sr. and Lillie (Fann) Prince. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War from 1956-1958.
Archie worked for the Delaware County Housing Authority for 27 years until his retirement in 1998. He also worked for Broderick Company for 17 years. He attended Shawnee Heights Baptist Church. Memberships include the Muncie Lodge No. 433 F. & A.M., Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Madison County Shrine Club, and Muncie York Rite.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Geneva Prince of Muncie; sons Archie (Barbara) Prince III of Alexandria and Robert Prince of Muncie; daughter Tammy (Jeffrey) Helm of Anderson; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Homer Willis (Betty) Prince of Louisville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday January 15, 2014 from 11:00a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Garden View Funeral Home 10501 N. Indiana 3, Muncie.
Funeral services for Archie will be held on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Graves officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Center, Inc. of Anderson 5325 South Main Street Anderson, IN 46013 or to Madison County Shrine Club Hospital Transportation Fund 2419 White Street Anderson, IN 46012.
The family would like to thank everyone who assisted in Archie''s care over the past 19 years in his courageous battle with cancer.
