Arie W. Hammonds, 81, passed away Saturday morning, February 16, 2008, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN.
He was born October 22, 1926, in Oneida, Tennessee the son of John and Evelyn (Bridgeman) Hammonds, and attended school in Tennessee. Mr. Hammonds was a hammer operator at Broderick Company and a self employed carpenter.
He attended Full Gospel Temple, played guitar and sang for several churches and different places around Muncie. Surviving are his wife, Ynona Hammonds; his children, Roger Hammonds, (wife, Carolyn), Yorktown, Larry Hammonds, (wife, Phyllis), Muncie, Judy Evans, (husband, Bill), Muncie, Phyllis Collins, Muncie, Marvin Smith, Hartford City, Roy Smith, (wife, Andrea), Muncie, Hobert Smith, (wife, Melody), Muncie, and Stephen Smith, (wife, Tracey), Muncie; three brothers, Ed Daniels, Jamestown, TN, Milford Daniels, Danielsville, GA, and Kenny Daniels, Jamestown, TN; two sisters, Mildred Blevins, Glendale, Oregon, and Gertrude Watson, Jamestown, TN; twenty grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Quire; and two sisters, Violet Cook and Bonnie Wilson.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Jack Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory;
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and an hour prior to the services Tuesday at the mortuary.
