Audrey P. Shields of Dunkirk, Indiana passed away at the age of 98 at IU Health Blackford Hospital in Hartford City, Indiana on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was born in Nashville, Indiana on October 31, 1923 to the late Jacob L. and Ona B. (Campbell) Griner.

Audrey married William E. Shields on July 3, 1946 in Paoli, Indiana. They had lived in Lafayette, Albany, and rural Dunkirk, Indiana, journeying through life until William's passing in 1998. Audrey had worked for several years at Simmons Hardware in Albany. She was a member of Happy Homemakers Extension Club and The Eastern Star. She was also a member of Albany United Methodist Church and spent time volunteering at their resale shop, where she loved preparing their jewelry for resale. She also loved antiques, refinishing furniture, crossword puzzles, pulling weeds, and spending time with her family.

Audrey is survived by a sister, Dolly Schroeder of North Carolina; a son, John Shields (Karen) of Hartford City, Indiana; two daughters, Sandy Bridges (Marilyn Huddleston) of Muncie, Indiana and Rebecca Peterson (Alan) of Dunkirk, Indiana; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Shields; five brothers; and one sister.

Private services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Garden View Funeral Home and Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
