Obituary

Augusta M. Johnson, 76, of Muncie, IN went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on August 27, 1930 in Maud, Mississippi to the late Odie and Edna (Hall) Barnes. On November 30, 1947 she married Curtis D. Johnson in Dundee, Mississippi.
Augusta was an avid fisher and bowled for Careys Barber Shop.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Curtis D. Johnson Sr.; one son, Curtis Johnson Jr. of Muncie; three daughters, Dorothy Lee Johnson of TN, Dorothy Bea Johnson of Indianapolis, Zella Mae Abram (husband - Marshall) of Muncie; one brother, Robert Barnes of GA; two sisters, Vernice Goodwin of Muncie, Dorothy Lee Johnson (husband - JW) of Indianapolis; twelve grandchildren, Irma Nelson, Preston Allen, Michael Allen, Walter Johnson, Mysiah Johnson, Cavin Abram, Maurice Abram, Brelan Abram, Jada Johnson, Erica Johnson, Marcus Johnson, Ursula Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Gregory Nelson, Merecdes Allen, Adreanna Allen, Shante Nelson, Mykael Allen, Jaylon Johnson, Kylon Johnson; two special god-daughters, Claretta Bussey of Muncie, Minnie Braxton of TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Augusta was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Early Barnes, Edker Barnes, Cephus Barnes; two sisters, Ruby Tribblett, Zella Peterson.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 820 South Penn Street, Muncie, IN with Pastor Aston Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the church.
