Barbara L. Siefker, 72, of Muncie, IN passed away on Sunday, June 17th at Ball Memorial Hospital. She was born November 3, 1934 in Muncie, the daughter of the late Merritt J. and Martha M. (Bird) Marshall. On June 4, 1961 she married Donald L. Siefker in Muncie.
Barbara was an active member of the Eden United Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Minnetrista Cultural Center. Other memberships included Home Ec. Club and the Delta Zeta Sorority. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1952. In 1956 she received her Bachelors degree from Ball State University. Barbara received her Masters degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1962.
Barbara was the school librarian at Hartford City, IN from 1956 - 1961. She also worked at the Earlham College Library from 1964 - 1966, and at Ball State University Library from 1966 - 1972. Since 1972 she has been a homemaker and has loved spending time with her family and friends, her cats, and traveling, especially to Mackinac Island, MI.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Donald L. Siefker of Muncie, IN; daughter, Lynn L. Truax (husband - Mark) of Indianapolis, son, Scott L. Siefker of Indianapolis, daughter, Lori L. Siefker of Muncie; grandchildren, Hannah M. Truax, Sarah R. Truax, and Benjamin P. Truax; mother-in-law, Gertrude M. Siefker of Columbus, IN; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert L. and Christina Siefker of Columbus, IN; sister-in-law, Joyce Siefker of Terre Haute, IN; and several cousins, nieces, a nephew and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Merritt J. and Martha M. Marshall, and father-in-law, Louis A. Siefker.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Eden United Church of Christ or the Ball State University Alumni Association.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Eden United Church of Christ, 11205 North State Road 3, Muncie, with Reverend Dr. Charles Jennings officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3, Muncie, and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Mausoleum.
