Barbara Watkins, 91, of Yorktown, lN, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2020, at the Albany Health and Rehab facility. She was born in Muncie, lN on August 11,1928, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Heath.
Barbara married Dale Watkins on October 22, 1949. They spent 55 great years together before Dale passed in 2004. A year after Dale's death she moved from the farm to a condo in Yorktown, where she lived the past 15 years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, watching game shows, and doing word searches. She was a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed by
all family and friends.
She graduated from Cowan High School in 1946 and began working as a secretary at Warner Gear. ln 1950, she had a son, Larry, and became a stay at home mother. Daughter Linda was born in 1955. Once the kids were in school she returned to the job market as a secretary for different insurance companies, finally retiring in 1985 after 15 years at Farm Bureau lnsurance.
She is survived by son Larry (Penny) Watkins, and daughter, Linda (Rex) Conyers. Grandchildren are, Wendy (Drew)Teaman of Jacksonville, FL., Whitney Stewart, Amie (Greg) Hawkins, Bryce (Susan) Conyers all of Muncie, lN.. Great grandchildren are, Taylor Teaman, Abbie Stewart, Blake Hawkins, Brittney Hawkins, Kennady Conyers, and Corinne Conyers. Also surviving are sisters,lanet Munro and RuthAnn Herkimer, brothers, Jim (Jone) Heath and J.T. (Emily) Heath, and sister-in-laws Patricia Heath and Janet Clemens. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, and brother Dan Heath, and several other in-laws.
Special thanks to granddaughter Whitney Stewart, niece Marilyn Himes, and the nursing staff at the Albany Health and Rehab facility for all they did to help and comfort Barbara over the past several months.
Friends and family may call at Garden View funeral home on Friday, June 12, from 11.:OO - 1:00. Services will be at 1:00, with Randy Davis officiating, with burial to follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie, lN.
