Beatrice Roberts' Obituary
Beatrice E. (Bea) Roberts, 96, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Westminster Village after an extended illness.
She was born in Greenfield, March 7, 1912, the daughter of Frank and Della (Knight) Minor, graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in Iowa 1930 and attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Bea was the co-owner and operator of Toby's Karmelkorn in the Rivoli Theatre Building, Toby's Potato Chip Company and Toby's Ice Cream & Gifts at 12th & Hackley Streets for many years.
She was very active in the community serving as a Troop Leader for The Cub Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts. Bea was an officer in the Garfield School PTA and was a 60 plus year member of Madison Street Methodist Church and Home Economics Clubs. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Emens Auditorium, Minnetrista Cultural Center, RSVP and many other organizations. She is survived by three children, Donn, (wife-Freida), Roberts, Muncie, Toby, (wife-Alice), Roberts, Oceanside, California, Wanda Gable, (husband-Max), Muncie; eight grandchildren, Rod Gable, (daughter, Brandee Gable), Scott Gable, (wife-Wendy), Kim Brown, (husband-Scott), Keith Roberts, (wife-Jennifer), all of Muncie, Rae Dawn Biegel, (husband-Jeff), Saugerties, New York, Ann Keener, (husband-Lee), Knoxville, Tennessee, Angela Whiteside, (husband-James), Allyson Torres, (husband-Justin), and Jackie Roberts, all of Oceanside, California; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond W. (Toby) Roberts; two brothers; and two sisters.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April, 14, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Gordon Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call Sunday, April 13, 2008, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. or one hour prior to service time on Monday.
Memorials may be directed to Madison Street Methodist Church, 1400 S. Madison Avenue, Muncie, IN 47302 or a charity of your choice
