Benjamin M. (Joe) Williams, 85, of Muncie passed away Friday at the Veterans Hospital in Marion, IN.
Joe was born in Newborn, TN October 25th, 1924 to his parents, Ben B. and Oma Flo (McKnight) Williams.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United State Army.
He was truck driver and worked for Central Beverage in Muncie and Broadway Beverage in Anderson.
He was a member of the local teamsters union, #135. Joe and his late wife, Thelma were the last owners of the Rivoli Resturant, before it was closed in 1987.
He is survived by two daughters, Robyn Williams Weems, husband-Steven of Muncie and Kimberly J. Williams; three sisters, Audrey Tanner, Ruby Adaline Williams and Blondell (Mary) Rice; A SPECIAL FRIEND, Ella Mae Altman; Ten grandchildren, Laura Mason, Katherine Mason, Keri (Mason) Schmitt, Kristina Mason, Nathan Neely, wife-Nicole, Aaron Neely, wife-Christian, Jennifer Williams, Jason Williams, Casey Burke and Skylar White. Eight great grandchildren, Kaylee O'Dell, Kodi Morris, Logan Morris, Dylan O'Dell, Kirsten Harmeson, Blake Harmeson, Eldon Schmitt and Macie Scmitt.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Griffith Williams; one son, Joe A. Williams; and one daughter, Brenda K. Williams; three brothers, Bill Williams, Leroy Williams and Robert Williams; and a sister, Gladys Courtway.
Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown chapel. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory cemetery north of Muncie. Military honors by the Veterans of Delaware County.
Friends may call Monday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
