Bernice H. Stewart, 86, of Indianapolis and formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died Saturday morning, January 24th, 2015 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born March 29th, 1928 in Mounds, IL, and was the daughter of the late Henderson & Pearl (Sharp) Stratton.
Bernice enjoyed fishing, traveling, and shopping. She loved being with family and attending family reunions. Bernice loved watching her soap operas. She retired from General Motors.
Bernice is survived by four sisters; Rosie Russell of Indianapolis, Emma Dorrough of Muncie, Birdie Stratton of Indianapolis, and Helen Reese of Augusta, GA; a step-daughter Barbara McDade (Greg) of Milwaukee; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother William Stratton; two sisters, Betty Hill and Estell Arnold.
Funeral Services for Bernice will be held Saturday, January 31st, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Joseph Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
