Bessie Marie Garrett, 82, went to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, January 30, 2011, at her residence following an extended illness.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
She was born April 30, 1928, in Oneida, Tennessee, the daughter of William and Savanna ( Honeycutt) Crabtree.
Mrs. Garrett was a member of Riverview United Baptist Church in Albany and the Riverview Baptist United Church Women's Circle. Bessie dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and her Lord.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-two years, Charles Garrett; a son, Rick Garrett (wife, Nan), Indianapolis; a daughter, Sue Parsons (husband, Rev. Daryl), Muncie; four grandchildren, Chad Garrett (wife, Krista), Brian Garrett (wife, Aggy), Michelle Shelley (husband, Jason), Tim Parsons (wife, Consuela); eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Filmore Crabtree (wife, Nell), Selma.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Crabtree, and six sisters, Jane, Saphoni, Vergie, Ferbia, Flonnie, and Florence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2011 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Rd. with Pastor DeWayne Loveless officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, or 9:00 a.m. until service on Thursday.
