Bessie Jane Reed, 85 of Parker City, Ind. Passed away Wednesday August 22, 2012 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. She was born March 12, 1927 in Muncie to Teal and Lavena (Lucas) Holbert and was one of ten children. Bessie married James Robert Reed on October 15, 1944 in Albany, Ind. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 27 years during which time she worked at Ball Memorial Hospital and several area nursing homes. Survivors include: two daughters Kathy (Gene) Reece of Parker City, Ind.; Jenny (Harold) Duncan of Farmland, Ind.; son Stan(Sharon) Reed of Norman, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren Donald Reece of Anderson; Kathy (Mike) Morris of Farmland; Amanda (Tim) Sheffer of Parker City; Tina (Dan) Clark of Louisville, Tenn.; Christie (Scott) Sprinkle of Westfield; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Dixie (Gus) Barbera of Florida; many special nieces and nephews; and a special friend Charlie Jones of Royerton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Robert Reed in 1997; parents Teal and Lavena Holbert; 4 brothers Herschel, Pete, Teal, and Foster Holbert; 4 sisters Helen Summers, Effie Richman, Margie Cecil, and Nancie Williams.
