Betty Jean Brown, 71, of Jamestown, IN, and formerly of Hartford City, died Saturday evening, May 4th, 2013 at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, IN, following an extended illness. She was born June 3rd, 1941 in Hartford City, and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jr. & Doris (Knight) Flatter.
Betty had been employed by Corning Glass of Bluffton, Premix of Hartford City, and retired from Bluffton Rubber in Hartford City, after retirement she worked at Crystal Flash in Whitestown. She was a loving and caring person.
Betty is survived by her husband Martin W. Brown of 34 years of Jamestown, IN; two daughters Laura Edwards (Rick) of Jamestown, IN, and Cynthia Ross (Chuck) of Hartford City; three grandchildren, Terry Goodpaster of Burlington, IA, Andy and Travis Ross both of Hartford City; two great-grandchildren, Gideon and Felicity Goodpaster both of Burlington, IA.; a sister Linda Tarr (Ted) of Hartford City, and a brother, Gary Flatter (Linda) of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews, and a very special companion Daisy Mae. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother William Flatter.
Funeral Services for Betty Jean will be held Friday, May 10th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Heart Association of either Blackford County or Hendricks County, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
