OBITUARY FOR BETTY W. CHAPMAN, 89 NOVEMBER 22, 1932 - MARCH 11, 2022
Betty W. Chapman, 89, Muncie, passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at Signature Health Care, Muncie, following an extended illness. She was married to Kyle E. Chapman for 57 years. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2016.
Betty was born in Effingham, Illinois, and moved to Muncie with her parents as an infant.
Betty worked her adult life at many popular restaurants, as a waitress in Muncie, including managing Wilson Hotel and Restaurant until they closed. She then went on to work and retire from Rax restaurant on Madison Street.
During her younger years, Betty enjoyed skating at Gibson's Arena, and dancing on Saturday evenings at the American Legion, with her husband. Her favorite things she enjoyed included: caring for her children and grandchildren, crocheting, coloring for hours, reading romance novels, baking sweet treats, manicuring her beautiful nails, and watching Jerry Springer on TV. Betty's happiest moments where when she had a baby in her arms to cuddle.
Survivors include her children: Vickie Maczura, Phoenix, AZ; Teresa Chambers (Hollis), Muncie; Ted Turner (Jackie), Mohave, AZ; Pam Jackson, Muncie; Billy Chapman (Diane), Eaton; Steve Chapman (
Melissa), Monroeville; Cindy Stage (Marty), Elwood; Lisa Randel (Paul), New Smyrna Beach, FL; special niece, Francis Maze, TN; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special family friend, that was like a daughter, Linette Cook.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Hattie Kissinger; two sons, Ronnie Chapman, and Kyle Chapman, Jr. ("Bub"); one son-in-law, James MacZura; four brothers, Howard Horn, Clifford Horn, Earl ("Punch") Horn, Norbert Horn; four sisters, Clara Kidd, Joyce Collins, Dorothy Horn, and Sadie Newkirk.
The family would like to thank the staff at Signature Health Care for their care of Betty over the last 8 years. A special thank you to one of her favorite caregivers, Pam.
Visiting hours are Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., at Garden View Mortuary. Burial will follow at Garden of Memory.
Memorials may be directed to Saint Jude's Children Hospital.
