IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty R
Davis
August 4, 1934 – November 15, 2025
Betty R. Davis, 91, passed away peacefully at Arbor Trace Senior Living in Richmond, IN on November 15, 2025, surrounded by her two daughters and one granddaughter. Betty was born in Pioneer, Tennessee on August 4, 1934, to the late William Riley and Emma (Childress) Musgrove. At the young age of sixteen, Betty married George N. Davis on September 30, 1950. They were married for over 71 years until separated by his death in 2022. Betty attended schools in KY, MI, and Muncie, IN before achieving her GED, after her children were all in school. Betty spent most of her married life in Muncie, IN. She worked for Ball State University in several capacities over 30 years before her retirement to FL in the 1990s.
Betty was very outgoing and generous. She loved buying nice clothing for herself and others, dressing up her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, other family, and friends. Her love for pretty clothes translated naturally into volunteerism at the Suncoast Hospice Thrift Store, where she helped organize and plan their annual fundraising Style Shows. In her younger years, Betty loved camping at Beaver Creek in KY and at various State Parks with lots of her family members. She was a good cook and, according to many, made the "Best Potato Salad." Betty enjoyed pitching softball at family reunions until two line drives to the pitching mound that hit her head led to her retirement from softball. Betty loved music. After her retirement from Muncie to Dunedin, FL, Betty helped plan many dances and social events at Lake Haven Estates and provided music for them. Betty was an active member of the Philadelphia Church of God and always looked forward to their annual Feast of Tabernacles Celebration. She was a good mother and inspired an independent spirit in her children.
Betty is survived by three children; Kaye Surles of Richmond, IN, Rick (Karen) Davis of Morristown, FL, Robin (Keith) Huffman of Muncie, IN; one brother, William Riley "Junior" (Jill) Musgrove of Dunedin, FL, one sister, Alice May of Dunedin, FL; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Surles, NJ, Abigail Surles Hayes, IN, Jon Michael (Krys) Huffman, TX, Jordan (Laura) Huffman, MS, Bethany (Brock) Sizelove, IN; five great-grandchildren, Lenora, Lincoln, Reggie, Josiah, and Gabrielle; 24 nieces and nephews; and several bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, three sisters, eight nieces and nephews, and several dear friends.
Visitation will be from 12-1 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Garden View Funeral Home,10501 IN-3 N, Muncie, IN 47303. A Celebration of Life Service will follow with David Weeks of the Philadelphia Church of God officiating. Graveside committal of the ashes of both George and Betty Davis will follow at 2 PM in the adjacent Gardens of Memory Cemetery, weather permitting. The family has entrusted arrangements to Garden View Funeral Home.
An additional time of visitation for Betty's Florida friends and family is planned for Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 2-4 pm in the Doral Village Clubhouse, 29250 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33761.
