IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Ann
Fancil
September 27, 1934 – October 23, 2025
Betty A. Fancil, 91, of Decatur, Indiana, and formerly of Muncie, Indiana, passed away Oct. 23, 2025, at Adams Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Hartford City, Indiana, to the late Bill Bader and the late Laura "Sandy" (Simmers) Lent.
As a young woman, Betty married Glen Gephart, and after several years the couple divorced. Betty later married Tom Fancil; he preceded her in death. Betty and Glen then reconnected and remained together until his passing in 2017.
A hard working woman, Betty worked at Ball Hospital for several years before retiring. She
was fiercely protective of those she loved, perhaps none more so than her cats, KeKe and Peaches. Full of mischief and orneriness, mom was a lot of fun to be around. She once drove in the Figure 8 races, but in her later years developed a love for crocheting and baking, as well as a somewhat obsessive need for moving furniture while cleaning. We couldn't stop her, so we didn't try.
She was a longtime member of Moose Lodge 1311.
Among survivors are her two daughters, Sandy (Tom) Schultz and Sue (Dave) Reidenbach, both of Decatur; siblings, Tony (Linda) Bader and Waunita (Mike) Bunch; grandchildren, Karrie (Gephart) Wirt, Valkyne Glass and Brandon (Sasha Glass) Pickens, both of Decatur; great-grandchildren, Trey Gerke and Ainsley Pickens; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-mom, Muriel Bader; step-dad, Hank Lent; brother, Dick Bader; sister, Muriel (Merkie) Smithson; brother-in-law, John Smithson; nephew, Chad Sours; and niece, Roxy Sours.
Services will be held Nov. 7, 2025, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 IN-3, Muncie, IN, 47303. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with burial immediately following.
