Betty Marie Read, 92, of Muncie went to heaven to be with the love of her life Walter H. Read, early Tuesday morning, November 10th, 2015 at the Golden Living Center. She was born May 9th, 1923 in Muncie and was the daughter of the late Andrew Noah & Alta (Anthony) Smullen.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved being with her family. Betty enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, sewing, bowling and playing bingo. She had been employed at Warner machine during WWII.
Betty is survived by her daughter Deborah Joanne Helmick of Muncie; three grandchildren Mark Cumings (Hanna), Kimberly Cumings, Carissa Cumings; seven great-grandchildren, Krista Scott, Alesha Cumings, Dustin Poling, Keirstien Smith (Ryan), Keifer Cumings, Ka''rel Cumings, Elaina Cumings, and Chris Cumings; six great-great grandchildren; three sisters June Weakley of Dunkirk, Beverly Monroe of Muncie, and Dorothy Staggs (John) of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Read.
Funeral Services for Betty will be held Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Greer officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a get together at Betty''s home at 2004 East Harvard Avenue, Muncie, please bring a covered dish and your own drinks.
