Betty Ruth Stackhaus, 81, of Muncie, IN, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 28, 2009 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie with family by her side. She was born on October 17, 1928 in Athel, KY to the late Mose J. and Joanna (Crawford) Watkins. On March 17, 1953 Betty married Jesse Ray Stackhaus in Missouri.
Betty was a caregiver to many, whether that be on an individual basis or in a nursing home environment. She last worked for Marion Hoeff''s in Muncie. Additionally, Betty always wanted to be busy at work or assisting others. She was also a member of Old Town Hill Southern Baptist Church in Muncie. Betty''s granddaughter, Tabatha, was also the love of her life.
Betty is survived by her children: Zelma Louise Griffin (husband, Lawrence) of Kansas City, KS; Bill Ray Stackhaus (wife, Karen) of Muncie, IN; and Lesa Marie Conner (husband, Jeffery) of Muncie, IN; sister Dolly Chisholm of Frankfort, KY; grandchildren: Eric Griffin (wife, Maurine); Troy Griffin (wife, Julie); Kimberley Noe (husband, Brett); Renee` Conner; and Tabatha Conner; several great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and several special nieces & nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jesse of 49 years; and brothers: Charlie Watkins; Carl Watkins; Dewey Watkins; Mose Watkins; and Henry Watkins; and sisters: Marie Heaney; Florence Jupin; Lucille Moberly; Zelma "Grace" Brown; Hazel White; and Lizzy Watkins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009, from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm at Old Town Hill Southern Baptist Church, 3000 S. Burlington, Muncie, IN. The funeral service will follow at noon on Thursday. Associate pastor Bruce Reynolds will officiate the service. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie.
