Billie L. (St. John) Cantrell, 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Sunday, January 16, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born September 12, 1927 in Manchester, Tennessee, the daughter of Lem and Willie (Carr) St. John and married Carson R. Cantrell, December 2, 1971.
Billie was employed for several years at Ball Brothers (Ball Corporation), Servomation, and retired from The City of Muncie.
She loved being outdoors gardening and caring for her flowers. She loved all animals, especially her precious cat patches, enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling. Billie also enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Cantrell enjoyed life.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of forty years, Carson Cantrell; her son, Michael Dillie (wife, Jan), Northglenn, Colorado; her daughter, Patty Nicholson (husband, David), Yorktown; her brother, Lem St. John (wife, Cheris), Ft. Collins, Colorado; her sister, Catherine Carrick ( husband, James Robert), Muncie; grandchildren, Nathan Jarrett (wife, Sherlyn), Austin, Texas, Hilary Joslin, Albany; great grandchildren, Summer, Brandon, Sebastian, and Isabella Louise; nephews, Michael Carrick (wife, Stephanie), Yorktown, Mark St. John (wife, Rhoda), North Carolina, Kent St. John, Colorado; step-sons, Rick Cantrell (wife, Kathy), Muncie, Bruce Cantrell (wife, Jan), Yorktown; step-grandchildren, Dorian, Erin, Bret, and Elizabeth; step-great grandchildren, Finn, Charlie, Davion, Devon; Also surviving are five special caregivers, Gail Moore, Midge Hunter, April Armstrong, Karen Moore, and Michele Ligon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2011, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the mortuary.
