Carl L. Thomas, 78, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, March 23, 2011.
Carl was born on April 11, 1932 in Marion, the son of Lydia and Cleo Thomas and graduated from Marion High School.
Mr. Thomas served his country in the United States Army.
Carl was semi-retired from Mursix Corporation (Twoson Tool), serving sixty-one years of employment. He was a very loving husband and father, a proud grandpa, and touched the lives of many dear friends and co-workers. Carl loved the Lord and was an active member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, serving on various committees.
He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, boating, bowling, and bicycling. Carl was a loving grandpa and enjoyed taking part in his grandchildren's various activities.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty wonderful years, Ellen D. (Keppler) Thomas; two sons, Greg Thomas (wife, Elisa), Fishers, and Kent Thomas (Andi), Westfield; three precious grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, and Mason; a brother, Terry Thomas (wife, Mandi), Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister in law, Sandra Watters (husband, Forrest) Muncie. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Carl's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Center Chapel United Methodist Church, 900 West Royerton Road, Muncie, Indiana 47303 with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County.
Friends and family may call at Center Chapel United Methodist Church from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2011.
