Carlyton Eugene "Gene" Skillen, 79, of Muncie, died early Tuesday morning, June 12, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1939 in Muncie, IN and was the son of the late Wayne D. & Thelma (Daly) Skillen.

Gene was raised in Redkey and graduated from Redkey High School in 1957.  He retired from Westinghouse/ABB in June 1995 after 32 years of dedicated service. Gene proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from March 1958 through December 1962. He was a 50 year member of the Delaware Masonic Lodge #46 and a member of the Scottish Rite. Gene loved outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, canoeing, snowmobiling and gardening. He loved to fix anything; he was a go-to man for minor repairs.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Carolyn Skillen (Grissom) of Muncie; three daughters Cheryl Lee (Rich) of Muncie, Christa Belcaster (Paul) of Tauranga, New Zealand and Cindy Vance (Eric) of Indianapolis; three grandsons Drew Lee of Indianapolis, Jack Belcaster of Snowmass, CO. , and Joseph Belcaster of Tauranga , New Zealand; five granddaughters Erin Slont (Alvin) of Grand Rapids, MI, Mackenzie and Marissa Belcaster both of Tauranga, New Zealand and Zoe and Adrianne Vance both of Indianapolis; a great-grandson Griffin Slont of Grand Rapids, MI; two nieces Dianne Andersen (Scott) of Phoenix, AZ and Lisa Bjotvedt(Doug) of Chandler, AZ; several great nieces and nephews also survive.
