Carol Lee Jefferson, 88 of Muncie, died Wednesday afternoon, February 28, 2018 at Liberty Village Healthcare. She was born January 29, 1930 in Muncie and was the daughter of the late Hans & Dorothy (Sarber) Riess.

Carol was a graduate of Royerton High School and a 1962 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in education. She taught for 31 years at Northview Elementary Schools, where she also served as vice principal. Carol was a member of the PI Omicron Sorority where she served as national Vice President and was also a member of The Garden at Gethsemane United Methodist Church.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Earl Jefferson, Jr. of Muncie; two children Stephen Jefferson (Terry Baxter-Jefferson) of Kalamazoo, MI and Susan Young of Georgetown, KY; five grandchildren Sarah Maass (Philip) of Wayland, MI, Andrew Jefferson (Amy) of Clearwater, FL, Kate Jefferson (Ross) of Kalamazoo, MI, Anne Jefferson (Adam) of Washington, DC and Chad Stewart (Melissa) of Georgetown, KY; eight great-grandchildren Riess Jefferson, Cody Stewart, Emily Stewart, Alison Stewart, Aaron Maass, Henry Maass, Emma Maass, and Amy Maass.
