Carolyn L. Lake, 75, of Muncie, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born on November 12, 1934 in Oneida, TN to the late Arthur and Callie (Freytag) Anderson. Carolyn is a 1952 graduate of Royerton High School. On June 19, 1954 Carolyn married her love, Herbert T. Lake in Muncie.
Carolyn lived most of her life in Muncie. She worked for Ball Corporation in the benefits department, retiring in 1993. She was also employed at American National Bank. Her hobbies included reading, traveling with her husband, and spending quality time with her family and dear friends. Carolyn was also a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herbert Lake; their loving children: daughter Tracy Shafer (husband, Francis) of Muncie; and son Brian Lake (wife, Sherry) of Yorktown; brother Walter Anderson (wife, Sunday) of Ocala, FL; sister-in-law Janice Anderson of Cicero; 6 cherished grandchildren: Nathan Shafer (wife, Miranda) of Muncie; Natalie Shafer of Muncie; Brandon Lake; Braydon Lake; and Chris Murray, all of Yorktown; and Alex Murray of Ft. Meyers, FL; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends Marilyn and George Harley.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; step-dad Charles Rosemayer; brother George Anderson; sister Billie Gard; 2 brothers-in-law; and 2 sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Center Chapel United Methodist Church with calling one hour prior to the service. Reverend Rusty Clements will be officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Center Chapel Church and/or the Desoto United Methodist Church.
