Obituary

Carolyn June Walker, 88, of Muncie, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Albany Health Care & Rehab. She was born in Muncie on June 22, 1921 to the late Orlen E. and Mary Alice (Osbun) Mercer. June is a 1940 graduate of Muncie Central High School. June also attended Practical Nursing School in Muncie where she obtained her LPN license. In 1958 June married James Walker, Jr.
June was employed as an LPN for 41 years for the following businesses: Ball Memorial Hospital for 4 years; Dr. Henry E. Bibler''s practice for 25 years; and Dr. William J. Quick''s practice for 12 years. June also owned and operated June''s Ceramics out of her home. She was also a 56-year member of Eastern Star; a member of Desota Methodist Church; and of Warner Gear''s Sympathy Club. She also volunteered for Comprehensive Mental Health in the Muncie and New Castle areas.
Surviving relatives include her loving children: Jerald R. Walker (wife, Susan) of Redkey; and Joseph A. Walker (wife, Dawn) of Gaston; daughter-in-law Faye Walker of Muncie; sister-in-law Vera Mercer of Muncie; 9 grandchildren: Kristin Jones (husband, Brant); Jeremy Walker; Lindsay Walker (fianc Mike Edwards); Cameron Walker (wife, Jennifer); Joshua Walker; Cole Walker; Fred Walker; Scott Walker (wife, Lori); and Brian Walker; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. June''s special friends include her neighbors: Pat & Marvin Watkins and Gretchen & Ron Prouty and members of the Desota United Methodist Church.
June was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband James Walker, Jr. of 40 years; son Ronald J. Walker; and brother Harold Mercer.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 29, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Daryl Hamlyn will officiate the service. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
