Catherine "Cathy" Sue Strong (née Kelly), 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.

Cathy was born in Metropolis, Illinois, on June 7, 1957, to Keith and Sarah Kelly. After graduating from Muncie South High School, she earned her degree from Olivet Nazarene College. She dedicated 44 wonderfully fulfilling years of service to American United Life before her retirement.

Above all else, Cathy’s life was defined by her immense love for her family and her faith. She found her greatest joy in being a devoted grandmother and spending quality time with those she cherished most. Whether she was cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, hosting family and friends with her homemade chicken and noodles and warm chocolate chip cookies, or beautifully decorating her home for every season, Cathy created an atmosphere of warmth wherever she went.

She possessed a creative, generous spirit and a joyful heart—passions she expressed through crafting, playing Scrabble, participating in choir and church activities, listening to Southern Gospel music, and embarking on exciting cruise adventures to new places with her husband and family.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Bob Strong; her children, Kristen (Jonathan) Crowder and Michael (Megan) Strong; and her six cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Weston, Carson, Makenna, and Micah. She is also survived by her brothers, Dan (Sue) Kelly and David (Tammy) Kelly, and her sister, Debby (Jim) Hollowell. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Keith and Sarah Kelly.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S. Maple St., Fortville, IN 46040.

An additional visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. A funeral service will follow immediately at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Fortville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Phil Edwards officiating.

Burial will take place at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.
