Cecil Eugene "Gene" Campbell, 86, of Muncie died Wednesday afternoon December 16th, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born May 2nd, 1929 in Farmer City, IL. And was the son of the late Ezrue & Hazel (Crews) Campbell.
Gene was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed making wood crafts, gardening, and tinkering. Gene was always willing to reach out and help anyone he could. He was a founding member of the Hamilton Township Fire Department. Gene retired from Wolohan Lumber after 29 years in sales.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Carol I. (Kelley) Campbell, whom he married on February 18th, 1951 of Muncie; two sons Paul Campbell (Mary Huff-Campbell) and Jim Campbell (Brenda) all of Muncie; a daughter Patricia Lawson (Jason) of Cookeville, TN., ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; a sister Marie Johnson of Mason City, IL. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son David Campbell on October 3rd, 2015 and an infant grandson Nicholas James Campbell.
Funeral Services for Gene will be held Saturday, December 19th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5- 8 p.m. on Friday, December 18th, 2015 at the funeral home.
