Charles W. Bainter, age 91, of Muncie, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He was born April 22, 1920 in Cowan, IN to Rollin and Matilda (Wright) Bainter. He attended DeSoto High School and graduated with the Class of 1937.Charles was a WW II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a Communication Equipment Installer for AT&T for 35 years. He married Norma Randall on June 3, 1950 and she preceded him in death on January 9, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Bainter.
Charles was an avid woodworker and gardener, who loved traveling and attending his grandkids'' sporting events. He was a member of Communication Workers of America, Telephone Pioneers of America, Muncie Moose Lodge, AMVETS and American Legion Post #19.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Bainter, (wife Cynthiana); daughters, Joyce Vance, (husband Terry), Julie Blakely, (husband Jeff); sister, Eileen Brown; grandchildren, Kevin Vance, Joshua Vance, Jeremy Vance, (wife Michelle), Charles Bainter (wife Emily), Audrey Jones (husband Ben), Jordan Overholt (husband Keith), and Justin Blakely; four great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie, IN 47303 with visitation from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions to The Marine''s Toys for Tots or to the charity of the donor''s choice.
