Charles Donnell Smith, 48, of Muncie, died on Tuesday March 15, 2011 after a brief illness. He was born on May 9, 1962 to Bishop Ira L. Smith and Pearlie Mae Smith. He attended Emmanuel Temple Apostolic Church.
Mr. Smith graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1980. He attended Indiana University and received his Bachelor's Degree at Ball State University. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. Mr. Smith was employed at the Muncie Youth Opportunity Center and the IBM Call Center in Daleville. He was previously employed at the Ball State University mailroom and was a manager at MCL Cafeteria and Chi-Chi's Restaurant.
Survivors include two daughters Brittany Thompson (Atlanta, Ga.), and Lauren Lorance (Bowling Green, Ky.); a goddaughter Takelia Smith Bell (St. Louis, Mo.); stepmother Evangelist Donna Smith (Muncie); five brothers, Elder I. LaMonte Smith (wife Missionary Sandra), Terrell Smith, James Smith (fiancee Deb), Steven Ladon Smith (wife Ezma) all of Muncie, and Jeremy Smith (fiance Mareica) of Indianapolis; three sisters, Sister Angel Carter ( husband Minister Dexter), Shameka Smith, and LaKisha Smith, all of Indianapolis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and one sister (deceased at birth).
Calling hours will be on Monday March 21, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home located at 10501 N. State Road 3 Muncie, Indiana. A private memorial for family members only immediately following.
