Charles D. Dyke passed away at age 83 on January 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 9, 1934 in Holland, MI to Herbert and Joan Dyke (Kole). The family moved to Muncie in 1950. He and his sister Charlotte graduated with the Burris Class of 1952. Charles worked at Chevrolet-Muncie, JCPenny and jobs in Florida before being employed in the office of I & M/AEP for over 35 years.
He was an active member of College Avenue UM Church for 50 plus years. Charles was also a member of the Y Mens Club of the YMCA for many years. He joined his wife volunteering after their retirement serving among other places at Christian Ministries and Meals on Wheels. He was an avid sports fan and golfer as well as a bowler.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 55 years, Carole Dyke (Rothenhofer) and his two children: Jennifer (Randy) Ward of South Haven, MI, and Steven (Julie) Dykstra of Fort Wayne, IN. Also surviving are his twin sister Charlotte (Wm. T.) Martin, of Indianapolis, his grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Ward of Holland, MI, David Ward of Grand Rapids, MI, Jacob Dyke of Kendallville, IN and Bethany Dyke also of Kendallville, IN. He is survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: David and Delores Unsicker of Orange Park, FL and Larry and Pat Rothenhofer of Ft. Wayne, IN. Some cousins and nieces and nephews survive as well.
Services for Charles will be January 23, at 11 AM at College Avenue United Methodist Church, in Muncie. Friends may call on Sunday, January 22, 2017, from 2-4 PM at Garden View Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the Church on Monday. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to College Avenue UM Church or to the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer''s Association.
