Charles Roscoe Jones, 91, of Muncie passed away on the morning of November 2nd.
Charles was born in 1926 in Muncie, Indiana, the second son of Emma (Cooper) and Thurston Jones.
Charles served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1945, as a pharmacist mate aboard the USS Sanctuary hospital ship. As a sailor, he witnessed the aftermath of the atomic bomb drop on Nagasaki when the ship anchored in port to care for and transport prison camp survivors home.

Upon returning home from the war, he followed in his father''s footsteps becoming a tool and die maker, working for Acme-Lee and then Delco Battery, retiring in 1993 after 33 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 321, Main Street Methodist Church, and Delco Sympathy Club.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Nina Jean (Copeland), his parents Emma (Cooper) and Thurston, sisters Lillian, Ruth and Betty and brothers Ernest and Robert.
Charles is survived by his three children: Anthony (Karen) Jones of Riverside, CA; Candace (Goble) Huxhold of Clermont, FL; Denise Jones of Muncie, IN; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A special thanks to everyone at Elmcroft of Muncie for their loving care of Charles during the past 3 years and to Kindred Spirits Hospice for their compassionate care of Charles the last few weeks of his life.

Services will be Monday at 12 p.m. in Garden View Funeral Home, with Pastor Randall Parker officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the United States Navy and the Delaware County Honor. Calling will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday prior to the services at the funeral home.
