Charles E. Sims, 88, of Muncie passed away on Sunday June 29, 2008 at his residence. He was born on March 9, 1920 in Paoli Indiana the son of John and Emma (Denton) Sims. In 1944, Charles married his loving wife Esther (Castor) Sims who survives.
Charles was a veteran of World War II; he enjoyed fishing and attended First Free Will Baptist church. He was a member of the 168th Infantry and the European Theatre.
Surviving relatives include his wife Esther Sims of Muncie; one son Gregory Kent (Kathy) Sims of Beaumont, TX; two daughters Sharon (Roy) Hudson of Muncie; Dana (Bill) Arnold of Muncie; seven grandchildren; Dwayne (Sunday) Slaven; Lora (Bill) Mitchener; Teresa (John) Lewis; Bryan (Theresa) Brengman; Robert (Amy) Newport; Jessica Sims; Jonathan Sims. Seven great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 in Muncie. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 1, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be calling hours on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Reverend Jerry Miller will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cancer Center or a charity of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
