Charles Thomas Smith, 81 of Dunkirk, died Friday evening January 29th, 2016 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born August 15th, 1934 in Livingston, TN and was the son of the late Arnold Van & Alta Agnes (Sells) Smith.
Charles retired from Borg Warner in 1997. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dunkirk. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Cassandra (Ziepfel) Smith of Dunkirk; a son David DeWayne Smith (Cindy Jo) of Warren; a daughter Pamela Faye Garringer (Wade) of Moreland; two step-sons Kevin Lancaster of Cedar Park, TX and Bradley Lancaster (Christi) of Hutto, TX; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; four sisters Clarice Stover, Ruth Kennedy, Frances Smith all of Livingston, TN., and Juanita Smith of Muncie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Johnny Arnold Smith on January 18, 2015; two sisters Inagene Smith and Christine Daniel; two brothers Ralph and Ray Smith.
Funeral Services for Charles will be held Tuesday February 2nd, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the church of the donor''s choice or the American Cancer Society.
