Charles L. Tremaine, 91, of Muncie, died Monday evening, April 28th, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 5th, 1922 in Muncie, and was the son of the late Charles W. & Arlis V. (Woodring) Tremaine.
Charles was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army, where he proudly and honorably served his country. He retired in 1982 from Chevrolet in Muncie after 36 years of service. Charles enjoyed camping, bicycling, hiking, traveling, and being outdoors. He loved his family and was an active member of the Northside Church of God.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mable C. (Sharp) Tremaine of Muncie, whom he married July 21st, 1947; a son Jim L. Tremaine (Vicky) of New Castle; a daughter Carolyn S. Sorg (Mark) of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters Dortha Ritchie and Helen Broyles both of Gaston; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Gary L. Tremaine on June 16th, 2005.
Funeral services for Charles will be held Monday, May 5th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northside Church of God, 1505 North Tillotson, Muncie with Pastor Jeff Veatch officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday May 4th, 2014 from 2-6 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, and one hour prior from 10-11 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at 11:00 at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Northside Church of God, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice, or IU Health Ball Memorial Cancer Center, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
