MUNCIE - Charlotte P. Penrod, 86, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 after an extended illness at Liberty Village Healthcare.
She was born August 21, 1929 to the late Homer and Hazel (Ketterman) Watt. In the summer of 1938 at the age of 9, she met John Penrod, who started working on the 255 acre family farm that was built in 1876. In 1939, John was drafted in the U.S. Navy and returned home in June 1946. After returning home from the war, John received permission to take Charlotte on her first date. Three months later, she was wearing a diamond ring. On August 2, 1947, John and Charlotte were married at Selma United Methodist Church.
She liked to play bingo, dominos and watching college basketball.
She is survived by her two sons, Tom Penrod (wife, Kim) and Jerry Penrod (wife, Janelle, deceased) both of Muncie; one daughter, Karen Booth (husband, Darrel) of Oklahoma; granddaughters, Angie Carmichael (husband, Scott), Amy Penrod, Amber Penrod, Amanda Reinke (husband, Brad), Dayna Booth Carter (Dusty), Kim Patterson of California, Kathy Patterson Vrabeck of California, Cindi Patterson Aaron (husband, Tony) of Indiana and Terri Patterson White (husband, Doug) of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Bradley Penrod, Lucas Penrod, Jackson Carmichael, Hunter Carter, Walker Carmichael, Halle Carter and Jordyn Reinke, Ben and Zoe Patterson, Alex and Griffin Vrabeck, Rachel Morgan and Natalie Aaron, and Emma and Ellie White.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Homer Watt; her husband, John Penrod; grandson, Jeremy Penrod; granddaughter, Niccole Lou Paholke Penrod; special cousin, Charles "Red" Turner.
Services are 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie.
