Obituary

Charyl Darlene Schoeff of Muncie, IN born Charyl Darlin' Norwood on December 5, 1944, left the mortal plane Thursday, July 21, 2022, after a long and valiant battle against multiple ailments. She chose to forgo further treatment opting for quality time with loved ones. She passed at her home, surrounded by family.
She was a beloved, loving, and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, to Clelline and Robert Norwood, Charyl came to Muncie with her family at the tender age of two years old where she and her sisters, Audrey Carol, Sue Lynn, and Helen Ruth spent their childhoods. When Charyl was 15 the entire family; Charyl's mother, father, and three sisters joined some extended family on a Steinbeckian cross-country caravan from Muncie, Indiana to Torrance, California where work awaited. In California, the family was completed when her brother Robert Edward was born.
She attended Banning High School and married Michael Vonderschmitt after school, soon giving birth to her first child, Michael Robert. Three years later she gave birth to twins; Joyce Ann and James Wayne and three years after that gave birth to Andrew Lawrence.
In the mid-seventies, the family moved to Lake Elsinore where her children attended school, grew up, and left the nest.
Charyl worked in the casino industry most of her life from Los Angeles County to Lake Elsinore. When her children were grown and started having families of their own Charyl retired. Soon thereafter she made the trek back to Muncie to care for her ailing father in the early 90s.
She almost immediately met Jerry Lee Schoeff and by her own admission, it was love at first sight. They married soon after and spent nearly thirty years together with two families becoming one.
Charyl endured many hardships and difficulties throughout her life but never let those things extinguish her love of life and her love of family.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who spread love wherever she went. She was known to always make time for anyone who needed her. Her door was always open to those she loved. She will be missed by family and countless friends near and far.
Charyl was preceded in death by her mother, Clelline; her son, Michael Robert; her father, Robert Edward; her sister, Sue Lynn Adrineda; and brothers-in-law Cornel Morton and Jerry Leininger.
