Former Muncie resident, Chonita Crawford, 71, passed away on September 24, 2009. She was a Ball State University graduate and earned a degree in elementary education. She was employed in the Muncie Community School System and retired after seventeen years of service.
She was a member of Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church and served on the usher board. After moving to Nashville she changed her membership to St. Matthew A.M.E. and served until her health began to fail.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Richard A. (Angela) Saine of Nashville Tennessee, Mark Crawford of New York City and Timothy Crawford of Reno Nevada; three brothers, Lamont Olden of Florida, Larry Olden and Leonard Olden both of Muncie; three sisters, Nedra Jean (Joseph) Bennett of Muncie, Gloria Jean (Bobby) Granger of Anderson and Patricia Braden of St. Louis Missouri; three grandchildren, Maricus L Saine, Davarius Saine and Dailynn Saine all of Nashville TN; one great-grandchild, Jayden Saine; and a special friend, Martha Billings of Muncie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Crawford; her parents, Ernest Olden and Dorthea Hardin; and one brother, Dennis Wayne Vaughn.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Pastor Pam Horne will be officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN.
