Claris A. Upchurch, 95, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie. She had been surrounded by family the day before Thanksgiving for which the family is grateful to have shared with her.,


Mrs. Upchurch was a St. Patrick's baby, born March 17, 1927 in Jamestown, Tennessee, to Wolford L. and Millie (Lacy) Hull. She attended and graduated from the Alvin C. York Institute in 1945. On November 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to Cecil N. Upchurch who was also from Jamestown. They celebrated over 65 years together Mr. Upchurch's passing on September 18, 2014



Mrs. Upchurch worked at Ball Brothers and Imperial Cabinets for a number of years. She attended Walnut Street Baptist Church, Shawnee Heights Baptist Church and more recently, Avondale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading her bible, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, and visits and phone calls from loved ones. She relished her family and friends, took pride in her home and treasured her Jamestown, Tennessee, roots and memories. She was a wonderful and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. Mrs. Upchurch was loved and cherished by all.


Surviving included her son and daughter-n-law, David Scott and Carla S. (Cooper) Upchurch, Kokomo, Indiana; her granddaughter, Krista L. (Scott) Rexroth, Indianapolis, Indiana, and grandson, Brian S. (Jennifer) Upchurch, Chandler, Arizona. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ella Rexroth, Cameron, Andrew and Austin Upchurch; One sister-in-law, Lela Reeder, Nashville, Tennessee and many special nephews, nieces, extended family members and special friends.



She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her sister and brother-n-law, Elma and Benny Delk, a toddler sister, Geneva Hull, two brothers and sisters-n-law, Odis and Faye Hull as well as Herbert and Helen Hull. and a younger brother, Justin Hull. She was also preceded in death by sisters-n-law, Nona Horstman, Dorine Crabtree, and Lucille Porter and a brother-n-law, Casto Upchurch, along with some very dear nephews and nieces and friends.


A viewing for Claris A. Upchurch will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Garden View Funeral Home, Muncie, Indian, from 11am-1pm with a funeral immediately following the viewing. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Upchurch's honor should be sent to the Avondale United Methodist Church in Muncie.
